Formerly a member of the US Army Blues Jazz Ensemble, bandleader and saxophonist Joseph Henson performs regularly in the D.C. and Richmond area with a wide variety of groups. (Over the course of more than 30 years, Henson has collaborated with iconic jazz artists such as Dr. Billy Taylor, Dee Dee Bridgewater, James Moody, Bill Watrous, Chris Potter, and Wycliff Gordon). Drawing on a repertoire of original compositions from Henson’s albums A Thousand Words, Transformation, and Groovesonic, the quartet will also put their unique stamp on jazz standards and bop from McCoy Tyner, Charlie Parker, and Tadd Dameron.
