Much like gumbo, the famous dish of their hometown, the New Orleans-born Cowboy Mouth uses a potent blend of musical ingredients - rock, blues, punk, funk, country, pop, soul, and whatever else feels good – to create their bodacious, kickin’ tunes.
An eclectic blend of pop, funk, rock, Americana, and soul that represents all that is universal about music. Aspiration. Movement. Elevation. Unity. It comes through in the lyrics and is embodied in the experience.

Director of Jazz Studies at GMU, national recording artist (Origin Records), and curator of this series, Darden Purcell is a bona fide jazz star, beloved by our audience, and she will close out the 2025 season.
Vocalist and winner of the 2025 Ella Fitzgerald Competition, Clara Campbell, teams with tenor saxophonist Justin Mendez, who has performed with the likes of Dave Liebman, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Wycliffe Gordon, in a program blending timeless standards, original works, and inventive improvisation.
Pianist, composer, and producer José Luiz Martins has a reputation for his distinct harmonic sensibility and masterful improvisation.
